Thrive: 1 Thessalonians
1 Thessalonians: A Thriving Church in Turbulent Times We are seeking to become a thriving church in our city that seeks to clearly declare the message of the gospel as we live missional lives. The key theme of Paul’s first letter to believers in Thessalonica was how to live in hope and faithfulness during uncertain times. This letter is Paul’s attempt to reconnect with them after receiving a report from Timothy that the Thessalonian Christians were doing more than okay—they were flourishing despite intense persecution. The circumstances of culture do not have to determine the flourishing of a church. The church can flourish and often does flourish during frustrating and intense circumstances. We flourish as we focus our gaze on the prize which is Jesus, himself. We should proclaim a picture of what true flourishing looks like.
